My name is Billy Higgs. I have a solo private counseling practice in Jasper, Alabama. I retired from Northwest Alabama Mental Health Center in Jasper, Alabama at the end of December 2017 after 27 years. In May 2016, I began doing private practice counseling part-time. With my retirement, I now have more flexibility in scheduling.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (Alabama) with over 30 years counseling experience, and 23 years as a Licensed Professional Counselor. My practice includes individual therapy for depression, anxiety, grief, addictions, daily coping. I also offer family/couples counseling. My background and perspective are informed primarily by person-centered and cognitive behavioral practice. I believe in valuing each person for who they are, and helping each person identify and challenge the unhealthy and irrational thought and belief patterns that lead to emotional distress.

I am an approved provider for Blue Cross/Blue Shield and for several EAP's.
